New Zealand's Regions To Get Service Of A Private Airliner Demand Up For Slashing Airport Charges There is good news for New Zealand's Regions. Their anguish was visible after Air New Zealand's decided to pull out of non lucrative regional routes and close its subsidiary Eagle Air.The news is that New Zealand's regional Airline, Sunair Aviation, has stepped in with the offer to fly in the abandoned routes.Sunair Aviation has announced that it is keen to boost New Zealand regional services in a big way. According to its chief executive, Dan Power, the main reason for inflated regional airfares was big airport charges.  An Air New Zealand plane flies over houses in Mount Victoria as it approaches Wellington Airport. Power said, even though Sunair would not want to compete with Air New Zealand, it is willing to take up the routes being left by Air New Zealand in the North Island. Most air travellers in New Zealand's regions have been business people w...

It Is cheaperTo Go To Nelson and fly to Wellington, even with the P etrol. Eastern Bay of Plenty Chamber of Commerce CEO Gerard Casey said Air New Zealand pulling out of the Whakatane route was disappointing but not a knock for the region. We are disappointed but we understand why the decision was made and the challenges Air New Zealand has had with an aging fleet of small planes," Casey said. He said there were two airports within an hour's drive of Whakatane, so the town was still well served. We are going to have cheaper Airfares available to use when Rotorua and Tauranga have more capcity. The forecast is for 15 per cent cheaper from Tauranga and Rotorua. Casey said the decision would be likely to affect Whakatane's business community more than tourists. I don't think you have to pump your chest and say Look I have got an Airport so I am an economic powerhouse. Air New Zealand currently operates up to four return services daily between Auckland and...

DISAPPOINTMENT AT DECISION

Image
DISAPPOINTMENT AT DECISION Buller district mayor Garry Howard said the loss of the Air New Zealand service was disappointing, but was unable to comment further until later today as he was in meetings. Air New Zealand had offered two direct flights between Westport and Wellington on weekdays, and one flight each way on Sundays, through its Eagle Air service. Westport's closest Airports were now at Hokitika 140 kilometres south of Westport or Nelson, which was 222km away.  Others took to social media to express their disappointment. Michelle L wrote on Twitter that the loss of the Westport service was a huge blow to the town. Air NZ drove a small Airline out of business a few years ago, now they dumps us. SHAME ON THEM, she said.  Steve said that his unlikely dream of flying to Westport via Grabaseat on a whim was now over.  Bathurst Resources Ltd general manager Hamish Bohannan said the announcement was disappointing, but it's a sign of the times. ...

Try Before You Buy, as Air New Zealand Shows Off New Seats in San Francisco The folks over at Air New Zealand are pretty darn excited to offer up some cool seats on their newest non stop 777-300 service between Auckland and San Francisco, and they are about to brag all over the Bay City. Service between the cities is not actually new, but the Airline used to fly Boeing 747s on it. Now that those big birds have been retired from their fleet, the 777 is doing the heavy lifting. With this Aircraft switch comes a new and improved cabin for the 12 hour Flight, finally including those futuristic SpaceSeats in premium economy and the comfy SkyCouch in economy. We know the Airline is no stranger to doing things a little different when it comes to upgrades, in Flight safety vids and cheap Flights, so don't be shocked when you see those seats taking a tour of San Fran in a glass sided truck for the city to sample. With a few stops around SF and San Jose, the truck will be giving ...
