MH370 More Unsettling Than MH17

Image
Auckland Psychologist Grant Amos believes the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in March proved more troubling to nervous passengers than last week's Aviation Tragedy.  He took many more Inquiries about his long-established Flying Without Fear programme after the March incident, which remains a bewildering mystery, than since the same Airline's Flight MH17 was believed shot down by pro-Russian separatists over eastern Ukraine. Russians claim Ukrainian jet flew close to plane   MH17 Shaken Cabin Crew pull out of work Claims of looting at crash site add to grief for victims families.   We had a lot more Inquiries because there's no answer to that, he said yesterday. Whereas in this one this is a direct act of terrorism so therefore there's an answer there. Mr Amos, who has been trying to instil greater confidence in nervous Flyers since being asked by Air New Zealand to set up his programme in 1982, said he would have no problem Flying with M...

Belated Accident Investigation But Not For Crews

Operation Overdue was a Television Programme that lived up to its own billing. It is always interesting to see how the programme makers view their own work and in this case it promised to tell the Emotional and Compelling true story of four Police Officers who went to Antarctica to Recover the victims of Air New Zealand Crash that killed all 260 on board. The crash was the Fourth worst Aviation Disaster at the time. The eyes of the world were upon this small country and we just got on with it and did what needed doing. Interspersed with news clips from the time, Erebus Operation Overdue did an excellent job, even though it was grim viewing. Naturally Actors played the men from the days of the Crash in the Antarctic, but it lost little in the reconstruction. The horrors the men experienced made for some delicate viewing. The first descriptions of decapitated bodies and limbs meant I was flying solo so to speak, on this one as Mrs Brown quickly declared it too grisly and l...

Ukraine’s government and pro-Russian Insurgents traded blame for the disaster, with comments attributed to a Rebel Chief suggesting his men may have downed Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 by mistake, believing it was a Ukrainian Army Transport Plane. As this stands this looks less like an accident than a crime,” Tony Abbott told parliament, adding the Boeing 777 appeared to have been brought down by Russian-backed rebels. And if so the perpetrators must be brought to Justice.  Opposition Leader Bill Shorten added: “This is a violation of the rules of civilisation.” Confirming 27 Australians and delegates heading for a Melbourne AIDS conference ...

Business Class Of A Qatar Airways Boeing

Image
Air New Zealand may have just taken delivery of the latest  Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, but the original 787-8 still has us  excited when we find ourselves on one. Qatar Airways has 9 Dreamliners operating a number of routes  out of its brand-spanking new Hamad International Airport in  Doha, and an additional 51 on order from Boeing. We recently  did a business class return between Stockholm and Doha, which  gave us enough time to explore its swanky interiors. This Dreamliner comes in a two class configuration Business  and Economy seating a total of 254 passengers. Business class  is an extremely spacious across for a total of 22 seats  of 4  and the one middle pair. All seats have Aisle Access and  recline to fullyflat beds. We avoid the pair in row 6 because  of the proximity to the curtains and the bassinet row in  Economy right behind it on our Doha to Stockholm flight there  were severa...
